Carla Lauenstein COO,ADM,RN

Director of Clinical Operations

Her Story

Carla graduated from Bryan School of Nursing and worked as an RN from 2000-2012 in the ICU trauma setting. During that time she worked in a variety of leadership roles, such as a charge nurse, precepting nursing students and new hires, CODE team and member of the BRRT team.


Carla was promoted to Assistant Nurse Manager of the trauma ICU as well as Clinical Educator. She was responsible for physician and staff educational training on the latest advancements in trauma care, managed staffing, was a member of the Quality Improvement Team, along with other leadership roles and responsibilities.

In 2012, Carla became the Administrator at Southwest Lincoln Surgery Center. In this role she functioned as the Director of Nursing, Risk Manager, and CQI Coordinator. Responsibilities included, establishing and overseeing the quality and risk management programs, the benchmarking and quality assurance programs, Carla and the CQI team have established a peer review program, identified areas of improvement through the business office and clinical areas, as well as creating a robust benchmarking program. Carla implemented the use of ASC Web QI for adverse event reporting and has utilized the system to prepare reports for the facility’s overall Quality, Patient Safety, Peer Review, Risk Management and Performance Improvement programs and processes which are overseen by the CQI Committee and Board of Managers. She was able to take this private ASC from 6 physician owners to 14 and had up to 25 surgeons recruited to work at her center. Also during her tenure there she successfully achieved AAAHC Deemed status reaccreditation 3 times.

In 2021 Carla was hired as a consultant and collaborated with a private practice group of neurosurgeons (The Nebraska Neurosurgery Group) in Lincoln, NE to design, oversee construction and procur equipment to open The Nebraska Ambulatory Surgical Center. She was eventually hired on as the Chief Operating Officer, Administrator and Director of Nursing in 2022 and was responsible for hiring all clinical and non-clinical staff, education and training, obtain state of NE licensure and Medicare and AAAHC certification. She successfully achieved 3 years accreditation with AAAHC Medicare Deemed status.


Carla has successfully negotiated insurance contracts, managed billing setup and implementation of the EMR system. She runs and manages all financial aspects of the ASC and the private practice neurosurgery clinic. She as of late is responsible for opening a new MRI suite at this facility.
